BURNETT COUNTY (DrydenWire) – On the evening of December 16, 2024, an officer-involved shooting in Webster, Wisconsin, left 41-year-old Andrew Sonnenberg with non-fatal injuries. The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation (WI DOJ/DCI) led the investigation into the shooting at the request of the St. Croix Tribal Police.
Sonnenberg allegedly initiated the incident by violating a restraining order and entering a residence forcefully, which led to a call for assistance from law enforcement. Sonnenberg allegedly armed himself with a knife and ignored officers’ repeated commands to disarm, then escalated the situation by exiting the residence and moving toward the officers, prompting one officer to fire.
At a recent court hearing, the newly elected Burnett County District Attorney requested a $50,000 cash bond for Sonnenberg.
The Hon. Judge Melissa Mogen accepted that recommendation and ordered a $50,000 cash bond for Sonnenberg.
