A female that was involved in a shooting incident in Burnett County has died from her injuries.

BURNETT COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A female who was involved in a shooting incident in Burnett County on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, has died from her injuries, according to an updated press release from the Burnett County Sheriff's Office.

On Friday, November 17, 2023, an autopsy was performed on the victim in this case at the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office. The preliminary results indicate the manner of death is undetermined and the final results will be provided at a later date.

Amended charges have been forwarded to the courts.

The male is still being held on charges of felon in possession of a firearm.

This case is still under investigation and no further information will be released at this time.

Police Detain Male At Burnett County Residence Following Shooting Incident

BURNETT COUNTY (DrydenWire) - One person is in custody after authorities in Burnett County responded to a call placed to Dispatch Wednesday evening where the caller stated that a female “had shot herself,” according to a press release from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.

On November 15, 2023, at approximately 5:19 p.m., Burnett County dispatch received a phone call from a residence in the Town of Meenon by a male stating that a female had shot herself. EMS and law enforcement were sent.

The female was located unconscious and breathing. She was transported by ambulance to North Air Care and then flown to a hospital in the Twin Cities.

A male was located at the scene. He was taken into custody for questioning. He is being held and charges will be forwarded to the District Attorney.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Laboratory will be responding to the scene to assist.

This is still an active investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
