Two Seriously Injured in Barron County Crash

BARRON COUNTY -- Two people have serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Barron County, according to a press release from the Barron County Sheriff's Office.

(Press Release) -- On Thursday morning, September 13, 2018, at 7:20 a.m., the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a two vehicle crash on Hwy 8 east of Almena with injuries.

Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with the Almena Fire Department, Barron County First Responders, Gold Cross and Cumberland Ambulances and the Life Link Helicopter responded to the scene.

Initial investigation shows a Ford Taurus driven by MaryAnn Desilvio, 77 of Almena, was stopped on Hwy 8 waiting to turn into her driveway when she was rear ended by a truck driven by Travis Peterson, 30 of Turtle Lake.

A passenger in the Taurus, Donald Desilvio age 53, was extracted from the vehicle and flown out in critical condition.

Mary Ann was also extracted and transported to Mayo Hospital in serious condition.

Peterson was transported by private vehicle to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Hwy 8 was closed for about three hours with the help of the Barron County Highway Department.

The crash is being reconstructed by the WI State Patrol and remains under investigation by the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.
