BURNETT COUNTY, WI — A three-vehicle crash on State Road 35 near Kruger Road in the Town of Meenon led to injuries and traffic disruptions on Thursday morning, November 21, 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 8:55a, prompting a response from law enforcement and emergency services.
According to Chief Trevor Thiex, who investigated the crash alongside Officer Tanner Pardun, all vehicles involved were traveling southbound on State Road 35. The collision began when a 2020 Subaru Outback driven by Christine M. Moeller, 70, of Danbury, slowed to allow a vehicle in front of her to turn east onto Kruger Road. Moeller’s vehicle was struck from behind by a 2016 Ford Fusion driven by Dylan C. Strait, 26, of Webster. Strait’s vehicle was then rear-ended by a 2015 Ford Explorer driven by Johnathon J. Hite, 21, of Amery.
Injuries and Damage
- Christine M. Moeller sustained possible minor injuries but was not transported. Her Subaru Outback received minor damage.
- Dylan C. Strait suffered minor to moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance. The Ford Fusion he was driving sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
- Johnathon J. Hite sustained possible minor injuries and did not require transportation. His Ford Explorer received moderate damage and was also towed.
Traffic Disruptions
The southbound lane of State Road 35 was closed for nearly an hour, reopening at 9:52a.
Enforcement Actions
Following the investigation, both Strait and Hite were issued traffic citations for inattentive driving.

Chief Thiex acknowledged the assistance of the Webster Police Department, North Memorial Ambulance, and Bruce’s Towing in managing the crash scene and ensuring the safety of those involved.
