The Spooner Cheer & Stunt Squad (Facebook) will hold tryouts this spring (2017) for SHS Varsity Football and Basketball seasons for the 2017-18 school year.
If you are committed, have school spirit, and would like to develop skills in athletics, teamwork, confidence, and leadership, please sign up on the form located outside of the high school and/or middle school office! Sign-up is open to all Spooner Area School District (SASD) boys and girls, who will be in grades 9-12 for the 2017-18 school year. Look for the official 3-day clinic/tryout dates and times to be announced soon. Information on a new Spooner Middle School Cheer Program will also be available soon.
The Spooner Cheer & Stunt Squad will be going into its third year after the Spooner Cheer Athletic Program was relaunched in the fall of 2015 after almost 15 years without a cheer program at SASD.
"Like any new athletic program, we have had our share of ups and downs, but we have a strong, dedicated coaching staff," said Spooner Cheer Coach Holly Snyder. "We are looking forward to growing and expanding the program, and we have exciting plans and opportunities for the future."
The coaching staff consists of Coach Snyder, Coach Bri Saavedra, Coach Cyndi Dennis of Proficient Dance Studio in Spooner, and Cara Murden.
"We have received so much support from the school administration, staff, and the community as a whole," Coach Snyder said. "We appreciate how giving and generous everyone has been, and we're eager to work with more students both on the squad and fans in the stands."
