Suspect In Custody Following Shooting Incident In Spooner

WASHBURN COUNTY — One person is in custody following a shooting incident on Monday evening in Spooner, according to a press release from the Spooner Police Department.

Press Release

On the evening of 09-28-2020, at about 4:15 pm, Spooner Police, Washburn County Sheriff's Department and Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the area of Third St and Erie St, for a report of a male being shot.

Law Enforcement arrived and the male victim had left the scene and drove himself to the Spooner E.R. The victim was later air lifted to another medical facility. The injuries to the victim do not appear to life threatening at this time.

A male was taken into custody and is cooperating with police. The suspect has been charged with Injury by Negligent Handling of a Dangerous Weapon.

This incident remains under investigation at this time.

In reviewing Washburn County Call Logs, the individual in custody was identified as Brandon Bartle. A criminal complaint has not been filed with formal charges in Washburn County Circuit Court, according to online records.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
