Springbrook Woman Sentenced In Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Case

SHELL LAKE, WI -- Lorraine Lampert of Springbrook, WI has been sentenced on her conviction stemming from a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred in August 2017 near on County Highway A near Fred Tripp Road in Washburn County.

There were 2 female occupants in the vehicle, Lorraine Lampert, identified as the driver, and a female passenger, identified as Judith Ray. Ray sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported by helicopter to a medical facility in Duluth, MN where she succumbed to the injuries and died that same day.


DrydenWire.com reported in April 2019 that Lampert had plead Class G Felony 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety; reduced as part of a plea negotiation from her original criminal charges of Class D Felony Homicide by Intoxicated Use of Vehicle and Class D Felony Homicide by Use of Vehicle With a Prohibited Blood Alcohol Concentration.

The criminal complaint filed against Lampert states that an eyewitness traveling behind Lampert’s vehicle, told law enforcement that he saw the vehicle picking up speed and then losing control, traveling from one shoulder of the road to the other, entering the ditch, and then striking an embankment before finally going airborne.

Wisconsin State Patrol Crash Reconstruction estimated that Lampert’s vehicle was traveling at around 90 miles per hour at the start of the crash sequence.

At Lampert’s sentencing hearing on July 15, 2019, the Court heard sentence recommendations from the State and from defense. Ultimately the Court ordered 360 days jail time, with huber, and 5 years of probation with conditions that require Lampert to complete an Alcohol and Other Drug Assessment.

Lampert is also prohibited from consuming alcohol and from entering any establishment that sells alcohol for consumption.
