Spooner Police Department Introduces Foundation

Spooner Police Department Introduces Foundation

On January 2 of this year, the Spooner Police Department started the process to separate donated funds from the budgetary funds in order to release resources to grow the bond between the Spooner Police Department and the community.

The result of this effort was the creation of the Spooner Police Foundation, which is a volunteer, non-profit organization.

“Through the Foundation’s financial and event planning assistance, the Spooner Police Department will be better prepared to serve the City of Spooner and its residents,” said the Foundations President Angie Pank in a recent email to DrydenWire.com.

Spooner Police Foundation's Secretary/Treasurer is Missy Weinbergen.  There are 4 additional members made of community members. Pank says that a vice president is still to be chosen and the community is encouraged to be a part of this new foundation to help achieve their goals.

“The community’s partnership with law enforcement is vital to achieve our goal, which is to continue to grow the bond between the Spooner Police Department and the community. ” Pank added. “The Spooner Police Foundation supports The Spooner Project, which has organized many community events.”

Pank went on to say that outreaches to the community include The Citizen’s Police Academy, Coffee with Cops, the K-9 project, Project Child State School Educational programs, the bicycle patrol, the Halloween Haunted House, the child Safety Seat Inspection, the annual Foot Pursuit 5K run/walk, and the Spooner Project Calendar.

Anyone interested in learning more about this new endeavor, or to find out meeting times and dates, can contact the Spooner Police Foundation on Facebook, or email at SPDfoundation@yahoo.com, or call 715-635-3527 during business hours.

Pank concluded with this invitation to the community, “If you are interested in volunteering, joining our foundation or making a monetary donation, please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you!”
