WASHBURN COUNTY (DrydenWire) - Anthony J Koprowski, 36, from Spooner WI, has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP) Spooner Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16.
According to the WSP, on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at approximately 6:56p, Washburn County Sheriff’s Office Jail Staff advised that a male subject was at the jail to pick up an intoxicated individual who had been arrested earlier that evening. The Jail Staff reported that the male subject had driven to the jail and appeared to be impaired.
A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper responded to the Washburn Co. Sheriff’s Office parking lot and observed the male subject sitting in his vehicle. The WSP Trooper observed that the driver, identified as Mr. Koprowski by the WSP, showed signs of impairment. A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety testing, showed that Koprowski had operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance, according to the WSP.
Koprowski was subsequently arrested and charged with operating while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance-1st offense while having a minor passenger in the vehicle. The WSP said that the passenger was a 6-year-old, who was turned over to a sober family member.
Koprowski was transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary chemical test of his blood and then turned over to the Washburn County Jail.
