Single-Vehicle Crash In Sawyer County Results In Death Of 47-Year-Old Man

SAWYER COUNTY -- A 47-year-old man from Couderay, WI, sustained fatal injuries as a result of a single-vehicle crash on Sunday, according to a press release from the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office.

On September 05, 2021 at 2:26am, the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle crash on County Highway NN in the Town of Couderay. Sawyer County Deputies responded to the scene assisted by Sawyer County EMS, Wisconsin DNR and the LCO, Couderay and Bass Lake Fire Departments.

Initial indications are a black 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup truck operated by Douglas B. Baker, 47 of Couderay was traveling south on Hwy NN when he apparently lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle entered the ditch line, striking a driveway and came to rest in a wooded area.

Mr. Baker, the lone occupant and operator of the vehicle sustained fatal injuries from the crash.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office and the Sawyer County Coroner’s Office.
