BURNETT COUNTY -- A shooting incident occurred on Friday at a residence north of Grantsburg, resulting in injuries to both a male and female, according to a press release from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 31, 2024 at 6:53 p.m. Burnett County Dispatch received a call from a child stating that a female had been shot at a residence north of Grantsburg. While on the phone with the child, a second shot was heard and the child said a male had now also been shot. The child exited the residence and waited for law enforcement.
Law Enforcement and North Ambulance responded to the scene. The child was transported from the scene by law enforcement. Deputies were able to call the male subject out of the residence. Law Enforcement entered the residence and were able to render medical aid to the female.
Ambulances arrived on scene and transported both the male and female to Burnett Medical Center.
The female was transported to a hospital in the Twin Cities for further medical care.
The male was treated at the hospital and taken into custody by law enforcement.
This case is still under investigation and no further details will be released at this time.
