Maintenance crews from the Ashland County Highway Department plan to seal WIS 77 from the Gordon-Shanagolden town line in Ashland County to the east end of Old WIS 77 in Sawyer County starting Monday, Aug. 15.

During scrub and fog sealing operations, WIS 77 will be open to through traffic. The work will be completed using lane closures with flagging operations between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists can expect travel delays and might want to consider using an alternate route.

Sealing both directions is expected to take three days. The schedule is dependent on weather and subject to change.

During scrub sealing, a layer of crushed stone will be placed on top of an application of liquid asphalt and scrubbed into the cracks to reduce further deterioration of the pavement. After curing, the roadway will receive a fog seal, where an application of a diluted asphalt emulsion will be placed over the scrubbed surface.

Motorists are urged to drive slowly and allow additional space between vehicles to prevent damage from any loose stone chips.
