Rusk County Resident To Be Honored As First Responder Of The Year

MADISON – Today, Representative James Edming (R-Glen Flora) announced that Rusk County resident, Martin “Marty” Huhn will be honored as the 87th Assembly District’s First Responder of the Year.  Mr. Huhn will be recognized along with first responders from other Assembly districts during the State Assembly’s floor session on Thursday, October 10th.

“When I sought candidates for the First Responder of the Year Award, my office received nominations for first responders around the district,” said Rep. Edming.  “After reviewing the nominations that I received it was clear that there are many fine first responders in the 87th District.  It was a difficult decision to pick only one to receive the award.”

Marty has served as a first responder in Rusk County for over 40 years including service with Rusk County EMS and the Sheldon Fire Department.  Those who nominated Marty said that he responds to many calls each month and it is very rare to not see him at any medical or fire scene.  He is also active in training new people who join Rusk County EMS.

“I would like to congratulate Marty on being named the 87th Assembly District’s First Responder of the Year,” said Rep. Edming.  “The folks who reached out to nominate him for this award made it clear what an important impact his many years of service have made upon the people of Sheldon and Rusk County.  I look forward to honoring him with other first responders from around the state next week.”

The 87th Assembly District includes portions of Clark, Marathon, Rusk, Sawyer and Taylor Counties.
