Press Release - Rep. Romaine Quinn (R-Rice Lake) celebrated his inauguration to a second term as Representative for the 75th Assembly District. He was sworn in as a member of the 103rd Wisconsin State Legislature in a ceremony in the Assembly chambers Tuesday afternoon. He is dedicated to economic expansion and continued rural success through his two year term.
“I am humbled by the trust that the people of the 75th District have overwhelmingly expressed for my record and my goals,” said Rep. Quinn. “I plan to use the next two years to continue to press for meaningful reform and progress. The legislative agenda that I began last year, the Rural Wisconsin Initiative, will continue to bring forward bills that focus on the needs of the people of areas that are often overlooked. It is important that we remain focused on putting more money into the pockets of our families while continuing to resist the urge to grow government.”
He noted that with a tight budget, he wants to hit the ground running. “The state has a balanced yet difficult budget, but I am confident that we will be able to find solutions that meaningfully address road spending and education funding. I have begun meeting with community leaders and groups to understand their needs, and how we can best address them. I look forward to many constructive conversations over the coming months.”
Rep. Quinn was elected to a leadership position within the Assembly GOP, and will serve as Republican Caucus Vice-Chair. “We have a great depth of experience on the leadership team, as well as some new members with fresh perspectives. I look forward to adding a rural voice to the leadership team,” he said.
Rep. Quinn will serve as the Chair of the Committee on Science and Technology and the Vice-Chair of the Committee on Natural Resources and Sporting Heritage. Additionally, he will serve as a member of the following Committees: Colleges and Universities, Education, Labor, Regulatory Licensing Reform, and Mining and Rural Development.
“It’s a privilege to serve as committee chairman, and I look forward to exploring the issues we will face. By expanding my committee participation from 6 committees to 7, I will have the opportunity to learn more about a wide range of issues that face our state.”
