MADISON – Representative James Edming (R-Glen Flora) issued the following statement after Governor Evers' budget address Thursday evening.
“As I listened to Governor Evers’ address tonight, I could not help but be disappointed. After hearing the governor talk many times about reaching across the aisle and working together, I was hopeful that his budget would be a start of bipartisan cooperation. While I did hear some areas where I think we could find some common ground, such as continued support for broadband expansion, a number of the policies that Governor Evers mentioned tonight simply will not be supported by the Republican-controlled legislature or many Wisconsinites outside of Madison or Milwaukee. For the last 8 years, Wisconsin has been Open for Business. After listening to Governor Evers’ address tonight, I am concerned that may no longer be the case.
“The state budget is the most important bill that the legislature considers each session. In the weeks ahead, I will be reviewing the governor’s plan and working with my colleagues in the legislature to craft a budget that works for the people of Wisconsin. As the budget moves through the legislative process, I look forward to hearing from the people of the 87th District with their thoughts on what our state’s priorities should be for the 2019-21 State Budget.”
