SHELL LAKE, WI — A large-scale critical incident training exercise is taking place today, Friday, March 7, 2025, at Shell Lake School. Multiple emergency response agencies will be participating in the all-day training.
The public is advised that there will be a significant presence of emergency personnel, vehicles, and equipment in the area. Emergency lights and sounds may be noticeable throughout the day.
This is only a training exercise, and there is no cause for alarm.
On Monday, March 3, Shell Lake Police Department Interim Police Chief, Mike Jaszczak, issued a press release regarding the ‘large-scale incident scenario training’ at the Shell Lake School.
PRESS RELEASE
On Friday, March 7, 2025, The Shell Lake Police Department and the Shell Lake School District along with the Shell Lake Fire Department, Washburn County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Spooner Police Department, Barron County Sheriff’s Department, Washburn County Emergency Management, Washburn County Department of Health and Human Services, Shell Lake and Spooner Hospitals, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, North Memorial Ambulance, and the Birchwood Police Department, and countless volunteers, will be conducting a large-scale critical incident scenario training at the Shell Lake School.
This training event will have a large amount of emergency services present. The training event will be an all-day event.
Being that there will be several agencies represented and likely a lot of emergency lights and various sounds of a critical incident, The Shell Lake Police Department is making every effort to notify the public of this event. We would ask that if you see the event taking place, not to be alarmed.
The training event is essential in testing current procedures within each agency and to train cohesiveness should a multi-agency critical incident occur.
A big thank you to all of the agencies involved, volunteers, and the Shell Lake School District for being a major part of this significant training event.
If you have any questions regarding Friday’s event, please contact The Shell Lake Police Department Interim Chief, Mike Jaszczak at 715 468 7640.
