SHELL LAKE, WI — The community of Shell Lake gathered on Saturday for a free-will donation Pig Roast that set a new fundraising record in support of the City of Shell Lake Chamber’s July 3rd Fireworks and Street Dance. The event, which ran from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., drew residents from near and far, eager to contribute to the beloved annual celebration.
This marks the second consecutive year that the Pig Roast has exceeded expectations. In 2023, the fundraiser collected $2,000, an impressive amount at the time. However, this year’s event surpassed that figure, raising a remarkable $2,700.
Event organizer Matt Dryden expressed his gratitude for the community's ongoing support. "The turnout this year was incredible," Dryden said. "It's heartwarming to see so many people come together to support our local events. The funds raised will ensure that our July 3rd Fireworks and Street Dance will be a fantastic experience for everyone."
The July 3rd Fireworks and Street Dance is a cherished tradition in Shell Lake, drawing large crowds each year to celebrate Independence Day. The funds raised from the Pig Roast will help cover the costs of the fireworks display and other festivities, ensuring a memorable night for all attendees.
With the success of this year’s Pig Roast, the community looks forward to another spectacular celebration on July 3rd, 2024.

2024 Fireworks and Street Dance
- Shell Lake's 3rd of July event will start at 8 PM on the main street with the family-friendly street dance with the high energy & sounds from Chicago's band “Sushi Roll”.
- Fireworks will start at dark (approximately 10:00 PM) at the Shell Lake beach. Listen for the thunderous boom to signal the show's start.
The fireworks will be launched from barges from the lake directly in front of the beach/pavilion. The best seating for this show will be that of the direct line of sight to the barges. If you can see them you will be able to see these fireworks.
