The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting to present the recommended interchange alternative for improvements to US 53 between Mackey Road and River Road within the Town of Trego in Washburn County.
This segment of US 53 was previously evaluated as a part of a larger US 53 corridor preservation study that was completed in 2014. Funding has become available for the reconstruction of this segment of US 53, and construction is currently scheduled to begin as early as 2020.
The public involvement meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 15, 2016, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Trego Town Hall located at W5690 Trego River Street, Trego. A brief presentation will be given at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The primary objective of this meeting is to provide details on the two primary interchange alternatives and identify the recommended interchange location. Based on data and public input collected, WisDOT is moving forward with Alternative 4 (full interchange along US 53 that would be located south of County E intersection) as the recommended alternative. This alternative best meets project needs while balancing direct impacts, access to the community and related project costs. The recommended interchange alternative impacts will be summarized in the project’s environmental document and reviewed by the environmental resource agencies and the Federal Highway Administration prior to final approval.
All interested residents and property owners are encouraged to attend the meeting. Citizens who are hearing-impaired and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Diana Maas at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay system (dialing 711).
