Program Spotlight: ICAA Business Development

It is no secret that 2020 has been a difficult year for small business owners across Wisconsin. Each community within our rural areas feels the impact of a small business closing their doors due to COVID-19 and ICAA’s Business Development (BD) program is aiming to do whatever they can to ensure that businesses have the tools and resources that they need to survive this harsh economic shift.

Initially launched in 1999, ICAA’s BD program has a long-standing history of making an impact across their 12-county service area; having helped over 130 businesses open their doors while creating over 200 full-time jobs to boost local economies. As the years have passed, ICAA BD has listened to what entrepreneurs in northwest Wisconsin need, tailoring their services to accommodate challenges as they arise.

Common business assistance includes one-on-one consultations, resources, and tools at no-cost to the small business owner or aspiring entrepreneur, as the overall goal of ICAA BD is to ensure that the individuals who make Wisconsin unique have the help they need to be successful.

Although this list is not all-inclusive, ICAA BD can help you with:

  • Writing a business plan
  • Developing a marketing strategy
  • Building an online store
  • Finding ways to connect with your local consumer base
  • Designing marketing materials such as flyers and brochures
  • Promoting an event

In addition, ICAA BD provides low-cost professional services, such as website building and graphic design, on a sliding-fee scale so small business owners can have a high-quality online presence without breaking the bank.

As we transition out of 2020 and into the new year, many of our Wisconsin communities will be feeling the weight of COVID-19 across the board, and ICAA BD wants you to know that they are here for you. Each community is part of what makes our state special and together we will find a way to keep moving forward.

ICAA BD services are available in the following counties: Ashland (except the city of Ashland), Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Clark, Douglas, Iron, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor, and Washburn.
