UPDATE: Authorities Issue Press Release Regarding Alleged Animal Abuse Of Dog

POLK COUNTY -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office has issued the following press release regarding the  alleged animal abuse of a dog in Polk County near Half Moon Lake.


(Press Release) -- On Saturday, November 24th, 2018, between approximately 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. a dog was killed in the area of the 1800 block of 120th Street, Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. The deceased animal was discovered by the owner and the incident was reported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday, November 25th, 2018.

Initial reporting to the Sheriff’s Department indicated the animal appeared to have been struck by a vehicle and then shot, possibly to end further suffering. Further information received by the Sheriff’s Department a few days later indicates that the dog may have been shot and possibly cut or sliced.

The incident is being investigated by the Investigations Division of the Polk County Sheriff’s Department and is ongoing.
