Pilot Airlifted After Plane Crash At Chetek Municipal Airport

CHETEK, WI -- On Wednesday, the Chetek Police Department was dispatched to the Chetek Municipal Airport following reports of a possible plane crash. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a small aircraft had crashed into a pine grove on the southeast side of the airport, according to a press release from the Chetek Police Department.

On August 14, 2024 at 12:33pm. The Chetek Police Department was dispatched to a possible plane crash at the Chetek Municipal Airport.

Upon arrival on scene, members of the Chetek Police Department observed a plane that had crashed into a small pine grove on the southeast side of the Chetek Municipal Airport.

The plane was operated by 34-year-old Travis Turner of Cameron WI.

Mr. Turner was removed from the aircraft by Chetek Fire Department and Chetek Emergency Medical Services. Once removed, Mr. Turner was transported via helicopter to Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire WI.

The FAA was contact at this time. The Chetek Police Department and an investigator from the Federal Aviation Administration began the investigation of the crash scene. At this time, the crash is still under investigation.
