Northwood Tech Students Attended National Leadership Conference

Northwood Tech students ended April with an impressive finish at the 2023 Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference held in Anaheim, CA on April 26-30. The Northwood Tech students and their BPA Adviser, Brenda Kretzschmar, attended the national competition, which was comprised of approximately 6,000 delegates from chapters all over the nation to vie for top honors in business and information technology skills competitions, attend leadership and professional development workshops, receive awards for community service activities and elect BPA’s 2023–2024 national student leadership team.

“This is the culmination of a year’s work for our membership.” said Brenda Kretzschmar, Northwood Tech BPA Adviser. “We celebrate these students for the energy they have devoted to advancing to nationals in competitive events, sharpening their leadership and career skills and contributing to community betterment through service.”

The 2023 BPA National Leadership Conference proved to be successful for Northwood Tech BPA Chapter. The students from Northwood Technical College BPA chapter who attended the conference were:

  • SonnYa Glinski placed in Contemporary Issues and Business Law & Ethics. She also represented Northwood Tech at the State Officer meeting as our State Parliamentarian.
  • Matthew Hoff placed first in Advanced College Accounting, Payroll Accounting and Managerial Accounting.
  • Kate Meck placed first in Interview Skills and Entrepreneurship. She placed second in Contemporary Issues. Kate also successfully passed her Certiport testing in small business. She received the ambassador torch award as well. Kate currently serves as our BPA State President.

Northwood Technical College received the Quality Distinction as the chapter met specific requirements of BPA. This would not have been accomplished without all the members participating through fundraising, competition, and service activities.

In response to the tremendous achievements at Nationals, Northwood Tech President John Will stated, “These students are fantastic representatives of Northwood Technical College, and we are all extremely proud of their success at Nationals. It’s great to see their hard work pay off with such impressive success and recognition.”
