POLK COUNTY - On Saturday, tragedy struck on County Highway D in the town of Clayton, Polk County. At 8:18p, the Polk County Emergency Communications Center received a distressing call reporting a motorcycle crash. The incident occurred west of State Highway 63, sending deputies and first responders rushing to the scene, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday May 11, 2024, at 8:18 PM, the Polk County Emergency Communications Center received a call of a motorcycle crash on County Highway D, west of State Highway 63 in the town of Clayton. Deputies and First responders went to the scene and located the crash. An eastbound motorcycle went off the roadway after attempting to negotiate a curve on County Highway D.
The Operator of the Motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and sustained fatal injuries.
Life saving measures were attempted but not successful. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene.
The name of the victim will be released at a later time.
This crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Polk County Medical examiner.
