San Francisco Voters Oust DA Chesa Boudin Over Soft-on-crime Policies

Fed-up San Francisco voters ousted their progressive district attorney on Tuesday in a recall election that rejected his soft-on-crime policies following surges in shameless shoplifting, car break-ins and rampant, open-air drug dealing.

The recall effort against Chesa Boudin, a former public defender and the son of convicted Weather Underground terrorists, was supported by 61% of voters in early returns, according to NBC.

Gunman Dies After Fatally Shooting Retired Wisconsin Judge, DOJ Says

The gunman suspected of fatally shooting a retired judge at a Juneau County home last Friday has died, state officials announced Tuesday.

Douglas K. Uhde, 56, who was never charged, is suspected of killing retired Juneau County Judge John Roemer at Roemer's house in New Lisbon, the Wisconsin Department of Justice said in a news release.

Wisconsin DOJ Ranks Number One During Spring Drug Take Back Day

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) today announced that Wisconsin ranked number one throughout the country for the most prescription medications collected during the spring 2022 Drug Take Back. Wisconsin collected 59,840 lbs. of unwanted medications this spring.

Wisconsin has collected a total of 1,039,405 lbs. of unwanted medications since Drug Take Back began in 2010 under the leadership of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Wisconsin ranked third in the nation for the most medications collected since inception, falling only behind California with 1,266,125 lbs. and Texas with 1,243,752 lbs. collected.

Waukesha County Judge Stays Order That Would Prevent Dnr From Regulating Pollution Cleanups

A Waukesha County Judge has issued a stay on a ruling that could prevent the D N R from regulating PFAS contamination. Judge Michael Bohren says the state and business groups need to come to a solution pending appeal.

“It puts the plaintiffs and the business people and the people who supported the plaintiffs somewhat at risk for a period of time. But the stay also protects the overall state policy that the DNR is working on in the event this court is incorrect.”

Wisconsin Supreme Court Issuing Record Number Of 4-3 Rulings

Wisconsin's Supreme Court has issued more 4-3 decisions this term than at any time in the last 70 years. And so far, the court's three liberals are coming out on the winning end of those cases more often than not.

Marquette University history professor Alan Ball tracks the data for his website "SCOWstats," which analyzes Wisconsin Supreme Court rulings by the numbers going back 73 years.

Ball said the 2021-22 term of the court is continuing a trend that began after liberal Justice Jill Karofsky defeated conservative Justice Daniel Kelly in 2020, shifting the court from a 5-2 conservative majority to a 4-3 edge.
