Senate Passes $95B Foreign Aid Package For Ukraine, Israel And Taiwan

The Senate on Tuesday night passed a package to deliver $95 billion in foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan -- a bipartisan win months in the making.

The package was approved 79-18.

Thirty-one Republicans joined with 48 Democrats to pass the legislation. That's nine more Republicans than supported the aid package when the Senate last considered it in February.

The Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine group released a statement claiming they backed out of negotiations after the university threatened to call the National Guard on them.

'Columbia University threatened CUAD negotiators to call both the National Guard and NYPD if we do not acquiesce to their demands,' the group said.

Harris Announces New Federal Policy For Nursing Home Staffing In La Crosse Visit

Vice President Kamala Harris on April 22 said the first rule to set minimum staffing levels at federally funded nursing homes and require that a certain portion of the taxpayer dollars they receive go toward wages for care workers is a long-overdue “milestone” that recognizes their value to society.

Harris announced the rules in Washington before she flew to La Crosse, Wisconsin to meet with nursing home care employees. In the battleground state, the Democratic vice president also held a campaign event focused on abortion rights.

Animals Seized From Wisconsin Farm Sanctuary After Volunteers Allege Mistreatment

An animal sanctuary in Cedarburg is at the center of allegations of animal mistreatment.

Autumn Farm Sanctuary is the focus of an Ozaukee County Sheriff's investigation and now the owners may be facing a criminal charge.

Within the past 36 hours, according to the Ozaukee County Undersheriff, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Autumn Farm Sanctuary and all animals located on the property were removed and re-homed to other locations. The animals included several pigs, goats, chickens, turkeys, and ducks.

Report: Drop In Seclusion And Restraint In Wisconsin Schools

A new report from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction shows a decrease in the number of incidents in public schools using seclusion or physical restraint.

Statewide, schools reported almost 5400 instances of seclusion and more than 6300 instances where physical restraint was used. Those are both down from the year before.

The report shows elementary school students were involved at a higher percentage than other grades.

Eric Hovde’s Brother Spends $1M On Super PAC Attacking Tammy Baldwin

A super PAC that has spent more than $220,000 on digital ads this month attacking Democratic U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin as a “career politician” is almost entirely funded by the brother of Republican challenger Eric Hovde.

According to Federal Elections Commission records, which were first reported by Axios, Steven Hovde gave $1 million to the Fix Washington Political Action Committee days after it was created in February.

Steven Hovde is the chair of real estate development company Hovde Properties. Eric Hovde is the company’s CEO. The two also run the Hovde Foundation, which spent just more than $2 million in 2023 to support impoverished children around the world.

Pascal Siakam scored 37 points and the Indiana Pacers overcame another fantastic first-half performance from Damian Lillard to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 125-108 on Tuesday night and tie their Eastern Conference first-round playoff series at a game apiece.

Indiana snapped a 10-game playoff losing streak that began with a Game 7 loss to Cleveland in a first-round series in 2018. The Pacers were swept by Boston in 2019 and by Miami in 2020.
