Gas Prices Hit New All-Time High As EU Considers Blocking Russian Oil, Biden Keeps Restrictions

According to AAA's average gas price calculator, the national average cost of a regular gallon of gasoline hit $4.374 on Tuesday, the highest ever according to AAA.

The White House has blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for the record-high gas prices in the U.S., even coining the surge as the "#PutinPriceHike" and vowing that President Biden will do everything he can to shield Americans from "pain at the pump."

Ex-Jail Boss Vicky White Dead After Shooting Herself As Cops Closed In On Her, Escaped Inmate Casey White After Car Chase

An Alabama murder suspect was captured and the jail boss who helped him escape fatally shot herself on Monday after a 10-day manhunt that ended with a car chase in Indiana, officials said.

Prison honcho Vicky White suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and inmate Casey Cole White was in custody after the pair was tracked down to a hotel on a citizen tip law enforcement received late Sunday night, authorities told reporters Monday evening.

Lake Mead: Shrinking Reservoir Reveals More Human Remains

More human remains have been found in Lake Mead, just one week after the body of a suspected murder victim was found in the rapidly shrinking reservoir.

The latest remains were reported to park rangers on Saturday. On 1 May, a body was found in a barrel stuck in the mud of the lake's receding shoreline.

The largest US reservoir, Lake Mead supplies drinking water to 20 million people from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.

Blake Drops Civil Rights Lawsuit Against Kenosha Officer

Jacob Blake has dropped a federal lawsuit against a police officer who shot him during a domestic disturbance in Kenosha nearly two years ago.

Neither attorneys for Blake nor Kenosha Police Officer Rusten Sheskey indicated in their Friday court filings why the lawsuit was being dropped, including whether a settlement had been reached.

Sheskey, who is white, shot Blake, who is Black, after Blake resisted arrest during the disturbance and appeared to turn toward Sheskey with a knife.

Fire At Wisconsin Anti-Abortion Office Investigated As Arson

Vandals struck an anti-abortion group office, where a fire broke out and a Molotov cocktail was found. Police say a spray-painted a message also was found inside the Wisconsin Family Action headquarters.

Madison police spokeswoman Stephanie Fryer told the Wisconsin State Journal that the fire was reported shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday. It wasn’t immediately clear who vandalized the building, but the message “If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either” was spray-painted on the building.

Merrill Man Sentenced To 137 Months For Methamphetamine Trafficking

TJ Myers, 33, Merrill, Wisconsin, was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson to 137 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. Myers pleaded guilty to this charge on January 26, 2022.

On June 8, 2020, an officer from the Merrill Police Department attempted a traffic stop of a Jeep Patriot driven by Myers. Myers stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers searched the Jeep and found approximately 400 grams of methamphetamine inside the center console. The government’s investigation revealed that Myers had received the methamphetamine from his co-defendant, Levi Bagne, who lived in Arizona.

AG Kaul Announces New Use Of Force And Arrest-related Death Data Dashboard

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul today announced that the Bureau of Justice Information and Analysis (BJIA) in the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Law Enforcement Services has released a new dashboard detailing use of force and arrest-related death data collected from law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin.

“The release of this data marks the first time that our state government has made comprehensive, statewide use-of-force data available to the public. This information will allow for a more comprehensive, evidence-based understanding of use-of-force incidents in Wisconsin,” said AG Kaul. “Thank you to the law enforcement agencies across the state whose commitment to transparency has ensured that use-of-force data for agencies serving 99% of Wisconsinites will be publicly available.”
