Vice President Harris is going to be the Democratic presidential nominee, barring a cataclysm.

Harris accumulated support Monday, one day after President Biden announced he would step aside.

Nearly all of Harris’s potential rivals have now endorsed her.

On Monday afternoon, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) also endorsed Harris, having not done so when issuing an initial statement marking Biden’s decision to abandon his reelection bid.

The biggest question now is simple: Will Harris beat former President Trump?

President Biden pledged to spend his remaining six months in office trying to end the Israel-Hamas war and bringing home the hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza.

Biden, who called in to Vice President Kamala Harris' first meeting with her campaign staff, will meet later this week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the efforts to reach a Gaza hostage and ceasefire deal.

Biden said he is going to continue working with the Israelis and the Palestinians to reach a hostage and ceasefire deal in Gaza.

The Senate will consider legislation this week that aims to protect children from dangerous online content, moving forward with what could become the first sweeping new regulation of the tech industry in decades.

Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is set to announce Tuesday that he will bring the bipartisan bill up in the Senate, with hopes of passing it before the chamber leaves for its August recess. The legislation had stalled for months even as more than two-thirds of the Senate signed on to support it and families of children who have suffered online bullying and harm advocated for its passage.

Some Wisconsin Republicans, meanwhile, argued if Biden can no longer sustain a campaign for the presidency, he should resign from office, too. They accused Dems of covering up his struggles.

Attorney General Josh Kaul announced a settlement with Kerry Inc. requiring it to pay $85,000 to resolve violations of Wisconsin’s air laws related to its operation of a liquid smoke manufacturing facility in Manitowoc. The settlement was approved by the Manitowoc County Circuit Court on July 11, 2024.

“As this case shows, Wisconsinites can help address air pollution by reporting potential violations,” said Attorney General Kaul. “Thank you to everyone who is helping to keep our air clean.”

Stephanie Roble grew up in East Troy and was destined to be a sailor on Lake Beulah.

Vice President Kamala Harris is making her first visit to a battleground state Tuesday after locking up enough support from Democratic delegates to win her party’s nomination to challenge former President Donald Trump, two days after President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid.

As the Democratic Party continues to coalesce around her, Harris is traveling to Milwaukee, where she will hold her first campaign rally since she launched her campaign on Sunday with Biden’s endorsement. Harris has raised more than $100 million since Sunday afternoon, and scored the backing of Democratic officials and political groups.

A plane crashed in a Wisconsin farm field near the site of an air show Monday, killing the two people on board, authorities said.

Sheriff's deputies and firefighters responding to the crash in the eastern Wisconsin town of Nekimi on Monday afternoon found the aircraft fully engulfed in flames, the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office said.
