Biden Budget Proposal Would Raise Taxes On Large Corporations, Lower Deficit Over 10 Years
President Biden on Monday will unveil his budget proposal for the coming fiscal year, calling for tax increases for large corporations and for billionaires to pay a minimum 25 percent tax rate.
The president’s budget proposal for the 2025 fiscal year would reduce the federal deficit by about $3 trillion over a 10-year period, the White House said, largely by raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans and businesses. The budget would also crack down on corporate profit sharing.

The United States military conducted an overnight operation Saturday into Sunday to evacuate American personnel by airlift from the U.S. Embassy in Haiti as violence escalates in the capital, Port-au-Prince, and across the Caribbean country, U.S. Southern Command said in a statement Sunday. Additional security was deployed as part of the operation, officials said.
"At the request of the Department of State, the U.S. military conducted an operation to augment the security of the U.S. Embassy at Port-au-Prince, allow our Embassy mission operations to continue, and enable non-essential personnel to depart," the U.S. Southern Command said.

Reddit on Monday disclosed that it plans to raise up to $748 million in its initial public offering, at up to a $6.4 billion valuation.
It would be the first U.S. social media company to go public since Pinterest in 2019. Reddit filed to offer 22 million shares — including 15.3 million Class A common shares and 6.7 million shares from insiders like CEO Steve Huffman and COO Jen Wong — at between $31 and $34 per share.

Nine people are dead after a van was struck by a tractor-trailer at an intersection on a Wisconsin state highway Friday, officials said.
Only one person, someone in the van, survived the crash, which was reported at 7:53 a.m. in Dewhurst Township, around 45 miles southeast of Eau Claire.
The crash occurred when an eastbound tractor-trailer on Highway 95 hit a van going northbound on intersecting County Road J, the sheriff's office said.
