Senate To Begin 'Vote-A-Rama' Today On Trump's Agenda Bill Before Final Vote
The Republican-led Senate on Saturday night advanced a sweeping domestic policy package for President Donald Trump’s agenda after a dramatic hourslong vote, moving it one step closer to passage.
The vote was 51-49, with two Republicans — Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Rand Paul of Kentucky — joining all Democrats in opposition.
Saturday’s procedural vote was delayed for hours as party leaders scrambled to resolve internal disputes. And it hung on a knife’s edge for more than three hours on the floor, as a handful Republicans — Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rick Scott of Florida, Mike Lee of Utah and Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming — withheld their votes.

The suspected gunman who fatally ambushed firefighters in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Sunday has been found dead, according to the county's sheriff.
Responding SWAT team members located a deceased male on Canfield Mountain with a firearm nearby, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office said in an update Sunday evening.
This comes after an hourslong, multi-agency manhunt in the area.
The ambush on Sunday left two people dead and another injured, gunfire erupting as firefighters responded to a brush fire on the mountain.

Canada has scrapped a tax on big US technology firms, just hours before it was due to come into force, to allow trade talks between the two countries to restart.
On Friday, US President Donald Trump called off negotiations over a trade deal, describing the tax as a "blatant attack", and threatened higher tariffs on imports from Canada.
In response, Canada has said it is removing the tax, which should have come into effect on Monday.
The digital services tax (DST) would have meant US tech giants including Amazon, Meta, Google and Apple, facing a 3% charge on Canadian revenue above $20m.

Trump said this week he’s currently vetting “three or four” candidates to be Fed chair, and that he could announce his pick well before Powell’s term ends in May.

Thousands of lottery players in Norway were mistakenly told last week that they had won more money than they actually did.
Norsk Tipping, the state-owned gambling company, on Friday said people who won the Eurojackpot were told they had won millions in incorrect amounts. It's unclear exactly how many people were impacted, but no customers were paid the wrong prizes.
The mistake stemmed from an error when winnings in Euros — which the company receives from Germany — were converted to Norwegian kroner, and they were multiplied by 100 instead of divided by 100, the company said.

Tens Of Thousands Of Wisconsinites Could Lose Health Coverage Under Trump’s Budget Bill
President Donald Trump’s signature legislation, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, could cause tens of thousands of Wisconsinites to lose Medicaid coverage and put some rural hospitals at risk of closing.
The bill, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives in May and is being debated in the U.S. Senate, would extend the 2017 federal tax cuts, increase immigration enforcement spending and make spending cuts on social insurance programs such as Medicaid and food stamps.
The Senate version differs from the House version, and the two bills would have to be reconciled. But both version of the bill include steep cuts to Medicaid that could have effects on Wisconsinites.

The Milwaukee police officer injured in a shooting on Thursday night has passed away.
Officer Kendall Corder, 32, was in critical condition at Froedtert Hospital in the days following the shooting and succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
Corder and another officer, Christopher McCray, were shot in the chest while responding to a report of gunfire around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Richard G. Frohling, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, announced today that a second superseding indictment had been unsealed, charging 23 individuals for their roles in an interstate car theft ring.
According to court records, between approximately January 2019 and February 2024, members of the alleged theft ring stole and directed others to steal motor vehicles, transported and arranged for the transportation of stolen vehicles across the nation, created front companies, altered vehicle identification numbers, made fake motor vehicle titles, registered stolen vehicles using those fake motor vehicle titles, and sold those vehicles to others for money and drugs. This investigation tied more than 175 stolen cars, many of which were new and “high end” to the ring. Some of the vehicles were stolen from airports, including Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport, car dealerships, and car manufacturer’s assembly plants.

A boater's body was found near Newport Beach in the Wisconsin dells Sunday afternoon. The boater, who went missing on April 3rd this year, was identified as Francesco Di Filippo of Chicago by authorities.
The boat Franncesco, another 75-year-old boater named Luis F. DiFilippo and a third occupant were on overturned near the Kilbourn Dam.
Luis's body was recovered by a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources aircraft near the beginning of the search. The third boater was able to swim to shore and was treated at the scene.

The march focused on a number of issues top of mind for the LGBTQ+ community such as education, housing, healthcare, bodily autonomy and economic justice. It was held on the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, a revolt against police brutality targeting queer and trans people.
