Missing Child Alert Issued In Grantsburg Ends In Safe Recovery And Arrest

BURNETT COUNTY, WI — A four-year-old child abducted from the Village of Grantsburg Friday morning was safely recovered just hours later following a coordinated search involving multiple law enforcement agencies, according to a press release from the Grantsburg, Wisconsin Police Department.

On April 18, 2025, at approximately 7:43am, Grantsburg Police and the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office were notified of a non-custodial child abduction of a four-year-old child in the Village of Grantsburg.

The child was reportedly taken by his non-custodial family member, Kelly Neuman (45), who fled the area in a vehicle at a high rate of speed.

Additional resources were requested and provided by the Siren Police Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI), and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

An investigation, area search, and several interviews were conducted, and a Missing Child Alert was broadcast.

At 11:10AM, a Burnett County Sheriff’s Deputy and a Wisconsin State Trooper located the suspect driving in a vehicle on State Rd 70 near the Wisconsin / Minnesota border. The vehicle was stopped, and the child was recovered.

Kelly Neuman (pictured) was arrested and taken to Burnett County Jail on charges of Kidnapping and Felony Interference of the Custody of a Child.

The child has been reunited and was unharmed.
