BARRON COUNTY -- A man has been sentenced in Barron County Circuit Court for a conviction of 6th Offense OWI stemming from a single-vehicle crash that occurred in November 2020.
DrydenWire previously published a post on November 9, 2020, regarding a single-vehicle crash that occurred on November 8, 2020, shortly before 6p. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jack G Kurschinsky, of Barron, WI.
Field sobriety tests were conducted with Kurschinsky and he was taken into custody. Online court records indicate that Kurschinsky’s blood alcohol content level was found to be 0.332, more than 4 times the legal limit.
Charges of Class G Felony Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) 6th Offense and Class G Felony Operate With Prohibited Alcohol Concentration (PAC) 6th Offense were filed against Kurschinsky.
The case against Kurschinsky was scheduled for a Jury Trial in October 2021, however, at a hearing on September 17, 2021, Kurschinsky entered a plea of guilty to his charge of 6th offense OWI. The charge of Operate with PAC 6th Offense was dismissed and read-in.
Kurschinsky appeared most recently for a hearing on November 18, 2021, and the Court ordered a 6-year sentence on his conviction of OWI 6th Offense; 3 years of initial confinement of state prison, and 3 years of extended supervision with credit for 64 days served.
Conditions of supervision will require Kurschinsky to maintain absolute sobriety and successfully complete any and all evaluations, counseling, treatment, and follow-up ordered by his Department of Corrections agent.
