Man Pleads No Contest To OWI 6 In Polk; Court Orders Sentence

POLK COUNTY -- The Court has sentenced a man for his conviction of 6th offense operating while intoxicated in Polk County.

DrydenWire previously reported in November 2019 that Perry Hochstetler, of Centuria, WI, was facing charges of 6th offense operating while intoxicated after Hochstetler’s vehicle was stopped by the Milltown Police Department for erratic driving. Results of a preliminary breath test showed Hochstetler’s breath alcohol to be .138.

Hochstetler was charged with Class G Felony Operate While Intoxicated, 6th Offense and Class G Felony Operate With Prohibited Alcohol Concentration, 6th Offense.

At a hearing on December 11, 2020, the Court accepted Hochstetler’s plea of No Contest to the charge of Class G Felony 6th Offense OWI. His remaining charge was dismissed. The Court ordered a 3 year withheld sentence with probation and 1 year of conditional jail time. Hochstetler will be eligible for work release.

Conditions of probation will require Hochstetler to maintain absolute sobriety and complete an Alcohol and Other Drug Assessment and comply with recommendations.

Hochstetler will also be required to pay nearly $2,000.00 in costs and fees associated with his conviction according to online circuit court records.
