POLK COUNTY — A local high school graduate is a Domino’s-sponsored Future Farmers of America (FFA) scholarship winner! Olivia Cunningham, an incoming freshman at South Dakota State University, is one of 10 students in the country who received a $10,000 scholarship to be put towards her pursuit of a career in child care.
“I am very grateful to Domino’s for sponsoring this scholarship and supporting FFA, along with my family and faith,” said Cunningham. “FFA has shaped me into the person I am today.”
Local FFA chapters continue to play a vital role in developing students’ potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Cunningham is vice president of the local Osceola FFA chapter. During her time in FFA, Cunningham’s accomplishments include competing in the State Creed Speaking Event and qualifying for the State Agronomy Competition.
“My experiences with FFA helped me gain confidence and valuable leadership skills,” said Cunningham. “From public speaking to real-world problem solving, FFA strives to prepare students for success in not only the agriculture industry but also in life.”
In addition to FFA, Cunningham was actively involved in several extracurricular activities. She is a member of 4-H, her school’s tennis team, a singer in multiple groups and is active in her church.
Domino's recognizes that without farmers, there would be no pizza and is pleased to support FFA's deeply committed students like Cunningham. Since 2017, Domino’s has awarded over 100 scholarships to FFA students and pledged to donate $1.5 million towards funds for scholarships and SAE grants in 2022.
