Joint Investigation Leads to Arrests Following Discovery of 85 Grams of Meth in Sawyer Co.

SAWYER COUNTY -- An on-going joint investigation into the distribution of Meth in Sawyer County has resulted in two arrests, according to a press release from the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office.

(Press Release) -- A joint investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department, the City of Hayward Police Department, the LCO Tribal Police Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Wisconsin Department of Justice/Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) into the distribution of Methamphetamine in Sawyer County, culminated on 11-02-18 at approximately 6:05 p.m. At that time, a traffic stop of a black Saturn passenger car was conducted in the Village of Radisson. The male operator of the vehicle was identified as Samoeun Moeuth, age 38, a resident of Minneapolis, MN.

A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, based on probable cause and an alert by Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office K-9 “Trace.” As a result of the search, Samoeun Moeuth was taken into custody for Felony Possession With Intent to Distribute over 50 grams of Methamphetamine, Felony Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine and misdemeanor Possession of Drug paraphernalia possession of drug paraphernalia. Seized from the vehicle during the search were 86.8 grams of Methamphetamine, a digital scale and $500 dollars in cash.

A female passenger in the suspect vehicle, identified as Cecily Angela Vitek age 28, was taken into custody for being Party to a Crime- Felony Possession of more than 50 Grams of Methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Samoeun Moeuth was arrested on 09/12/18, by the City of Hayward Police Department for Possession of Drug paraphernalia. Also at this time, the LCO Tribal Police Department began an investigation into Samoeun Moeuth, after received complaints of illegal drug activity in rooms registered to Samoeun Moeuth at the LCO Casino Hotel.

On 10-30-18, the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the WI DOJ/DCI made an arrest in which almost ¼ ounce of Methamphetamine was recovered. It was determined that this meth came from Samoeun Moeuth.   On 10-31-18, The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office recovered another ¼ ounce of Methamphetamine that was determined to come from Samoeun Moeuth as well. On 11-01-18, another ¼ ounce of Methamphetamine was recovered, also determined to come from Samoeun Moeuth.

Information gained through the investigations indicated that Samoeun Moeuth was coming back to Sawyer County on 11-02-18 with a large amount of Methamphetamine, in the same black Saturn passenger car that Samoeun Moeuth was in when arrested by the City of Hayward Police Department on 09/12/18.

You are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
