WASHBURN COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A multi-agency drug investigation into heroin trafficking that led to criminal charges for multiple people has come to a close with the sentencing of the leader, Antoinette Brewer. Washburn County District Attorney Aaron Marcoux issued a press release regarding the outcome of this investigation and the numerous criminal cases that were filed.
Brewer pleaded guilty at a court hearing in November 2023 and appeared most recently for a sentencing hearing on May 9, 2024, in Washburn County Circuit Court. Both defense counsel and D.A. Marcoux presented their sentencing recommendations to Judge Winton. Brewer made a statement to the Court.

Defense counsel for Brewer recommended that Brewer be allowed to serve probation initially, with an imposed and stayed prison sentence. However, Judge Winton diverged from those recommendations, imposing a much harsher sentence.
