Fond du Lac County, Wis. -- Former Kewaskum Police Department School Resource Officer Steven Rosales has been sentenced to two years in prison and three years of supervision on three felony counts of bestiality, according to a press release from Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric J. Toney.

Today District Attorney Eric J. Toney announced that Steven Rosales, a former Kewaskum Police Department School Resource Officer, was sentenced on three Class H Felony counts of Bestiality. The Court sentenced Rosales to two years of initial confinement and 3 years of extended supervision on each count, concurrent to each other but consecutive to any other sentence.
District Attorney Toney stated “Bestiality shocks the conscious of a community and thankfully is a rare crime that we see. In this case, the defendant violated a position of trust and authority within in his community, while serving as a School Resource Officer. Police officers are held to a high standard but do not have a free pass to break the law and when they break the law, they will be held accountable, like anyone else. Steven Rosales is not representative of the incredible law enforcement officers that serve our community and state.”
The pre-sentence investigation recommended two years of initial confinement and one year of extended supervision. The defendant recommended a probation sentence to the Court. The state recommended five years of initial prison confinement and nine of extended supervision.
The defendant faced a maximum penalty of nine years of initial prison confinement and nine years of extended supervision.
This case was investigated by the West Bend Police Department and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by District Attorney Eric Toney.
