Former Washburn County Sheriff Terry Dryden Recovering From Recent Heart Attack

WASHBURN COUNTY -- Former Washburn County Sheriff Terry Dryden is currently recovering after suffering a recent heart attack.

Terry had a heart attack on Saturday, July 11, 2020, while working outside at his residence with two others on a project. Within seconds of having the heart attack, one of the others, Shell Lake Police Chief and former EMT, Dave Wilson, called 911 and began performing life-saving measures.

Terry was then transported via ambulance to the Shell Lake Hospital. A short time later he was airlifted to a regional hospital. A stent was put in later that day.

Terry is now in the process of healing from this medical event. His recovery will likely be more of a marathon than a sprint, however, he continues to make significant progress every day and is doing well.

Terry, a Vietnam Veteran, has been a resident of Washburn County for over 40 years. He spent 38 years in Law Enforcement with the last 28 years as Sheriff of Washburn County until his retirement in 2019.

The Dryden family would like to thank North Memorial Ambulance - Spooner Station, Life Link III, all of the doctors, nurses, and specialists that have and continue to care for Terry, Dave Wilson for his quick action, and to everyone that has offered their prayers, best wishes, and support.
