A former Spooner resident, Dakota Faircloth, 20, was declared brain dead on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, and is currently on life support from a stab wound to the neck sustained during a domestic dispute with his father in Moses Lake, Washington, on January 21.
The Moses Lake Police Department provided DrydenWire.com with the following press release from January 21, 2017:
VICTIM INFORMATION: Faircloth, Dakota, 20 YOA, Moses Lake Resident
DEFENDANT INFORMATION: Faircloth, Jeffrey H., 52 YOA, Moses Lake Resident
On 01-21-17 at about 8:22 PM officers were dispatched to a stabbing at a residence in the 1100 block of Ashley Way. Officers discovered the victim with a stab wound to his neck in the garage area. The suspect was located on scene and had an gash type injury to his forehead. Officers learned there had been an argument between the victim and suspect, son and father, that progressed to the son throwing an item that struck the suspect in the forehead causing that wound. The suspect went upstairs to deal with the wound, and at some point the victim came upstairs as well. The argument continued upstairs. The suspect grabbed a knife, stating he was going to cut the tires on the vehicle so the victim could not leave. A physical altercation erupted ending in the victim being stabbed/cut in the throat. How the wound occurred was disputed at the scene, although the suspect was in possession of the knife at the time. The victim was transported to Samaritan and then to an out of area hospital. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail after receiving medical attention for the wound on his forehead. At the time of this release the victim remains hospitalized, although his exact condition is unknown. Detectives continue to investigate.
Betty Faircloth, Dakota’s sister and resident of Duluth, stated to DrydenWire.com that Dakota was pronounced brain dead by doctors on Monday and will be removed from life support tomorrow morning, Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017.
Law enforcement has placed Jeffrey Faircloth under arrest. It is unknown at this time what criminal charges may be filed.
Dakota was born in Moses Lake, Washington, and then moved to Spooner and attended the Spooner Area School District until 2014, at which time he moved back to Moses Lake.
Betty Faircloth also provided DrydenWire.com with the following statement:
“I want people to remember the way Dakota was and not the way he went out. He’s got a heart of gold and a smile so full of life and please recognize Jesse Faircloth as he is Dakota Faircloth’s husband, he held on to Dakota while he bled out and has never left his side since they have met.”
