POLK COUNTY -- A fatal crash in the town of Georgetown on Tuesday morning claimed the life of a driver after their truck left the roadway, went airborne, and crashed into a grove of trees, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

PRESS RELEASE
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 9:44 a.m. the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a one vehicle crash on CTH I and Indian Point Lane, in the town of Georgetown. It was reported that the sole occupant of the vehicle was injured and non-responsive. Polk County Deputies and local EMS and Fire responded to the scene.
The crash victim, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Evidence at the scene indicated that the truck was southbound on CTH I when it crossed the centerline and left the roadway. The truck struck a driveway and became airborne until it hit a grove of trees. The collision with the trees caused significant damage to the vehicle.
Speed and road conditions at the time are believed to be factors.
The crash victim’s name is being withheld, pending notification of family.
The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Polk County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Other assisting agencies include Apple River First Responders and Fire, Milltown First Responders and Fire, The Polk County Highway Department and the Luck Area Ambulance.
