ASHLAND, WI -- On April 3, 2024, at 8:00p, Ashland Police and Fire responded to a tragic accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on State Hwy 13/Ellis Avenue near 7th Street.
The vehicle, driven by Mark Miller, 66, was heading northbound on Ellis Avenue when Rose Kozeneski, 68, walked into traffic and was struck. Despite immediate medical attention, Kozeneski succumbed to her injuries at the emergency room, according to a press release from the Ashland Police Department.

On 4/3/24 at 8:00pm, Ashland Police and Ashland Fire were called to an accident between a vehicle and a pedestrian on State Hwy 13/Ellis Avenue near 7th Street.
It was determined that the vehicle had been northbound on Ellis Avenue just north of 7th Street when the pedestrian walked into the lane of traffic and was struck.
The pedestrian had been walking east across the road diagonally from the median prior to being struck.
The driver of the vehicle never saw the pedestrian until the impact.
The pedestrian was treated by paramedics and transported to the emergency room but died due to the injuries.
The driver was identified as Mark Miller, 66, of Ashland.
The pedestrian was identified as Rose Kozeneski, age 68, from Ashland.
Alcohol or drugs were not suspected at the scene but results are pending to confirm that.
