Driver Injured In Fiery Single-Vehicle Crash Near Bloomer

CHIPPEWA COUNTY, WI -- A 62-year-old man from North St. Paul, MN, sustained injuries in a single-vehicle crash that resulted in a fire on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office reported that at approximately 4:53p., a westbound truck left State Highway 64 near County Highway Q in Bloomer. The truck veered off the roadway, collided with multiple trees, and sustained significant front-end damage before becoming engulfed in flames.

The driver, identified as Chong Xiong, was the vehicle’s sole occupant. He was pulled from the burning truck with the assistance of a passerby and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Multiple emergency agencies responded to the scene, including the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Bloomer Police, Bloomer Fire, Bloomer EMS, Chippewa Falls EMS, Chippewa Fire District Ambulance, and a Life Link helicopter.

The crash remains under investigation by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office.
