Driver Allegedly Flees Scene After Rollover Crash Near New Auburn

BARRON COUNTY -- A late-night rollover crash north of New Auburn on Saturday prompted an extensive search after emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the vehicle abandoned, according to a press release from the Barron County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, August 17, at 11:13 p.m., the Barron County 911 Center received a call of a one-vehicle roll over on County Road SS at 1st Ave just north of New Auburn.

Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with the Chetek Ambulance and New Auburn Fire Department responded to the scene.

When emergency services arrived on scene they discovered a serious rollover over crash with no driver located.

A search of the area by Fire, EMS, drone and thermal imagining was conducted with no driver located.

At 12:56 a.m., the driver, a 39-year-old male from New Auburn, was located and had left the scene.

He was treated and released for his injuries and charges are being referred to the Barron County District Attorney’s Office.

Alcohol is a suspected contributing factor.
