Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

(News Release) -- Deaths and injuries from drunken driving crashes devastate individuals, families and entire communities any time of year. However, these crashes can cause even more overwhelming grief during the holiday season.

To prevent drunken drivers from killing or injuring themselves and innocent victims, Rice Lake Police Department will join other law enforcement agencies throughout Wisconsin in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign from December 15 to January 1.

Our officers are experienced in identifying the indications of impaired driving, and they know where and when to look for drunken drivers. So while celebrating the holidays, if you’re faced with a decision on whether or not to get behind the wheel while impaired, remember that:

  • A drunken driving arrest can cause major embarrassment, expensive penalties, suspension or revocation of your driver’s license and mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device on your vehicles.
  • If you injure or kill someone while driving drunk you will face a jail sentence.
  • In addition to severe financial and legal penalties, you will suffer a lifetime of guilt if you injure or kill someone.
  • Because of its serious consequences, driving drunk likely will be a decision you’ll regret the rest of your life.

Because drunken driving is entirely preventable, we are serious when we say, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”
