Deputy Noah Barker Receives Life Saving Award From Burnett County Sheriff Tracy Finch

BURNETT COUNTY — Deputy Noah Barker has been formally recognized by Burnett County Sheriff Tracy Finch for his life-saving actions during a critical emergency involving an infant. On September 25, 2024, Barker responded to a distress call regarding a seven-month-old child choking, arriving at the scene where he found the child's grandmother and the struggling infant.

Thanks to his quick thinking and professional training, Deputy Barker was able to immediately assess the situation. He successfully cleared the obstruction from the child's throat—a large round plastic piece—by opening the infant's mouth, depressing the tongue, and removing the object. Once the obstruction was removed, the child’s breathing returned to normal.

In a letter of commendation, Sheriff Finch expressed her sincere gratitude for Deputy Barker’s calm and swift response, which likely saved the child’s life. "If it weren't for your quick and calm response, coupled with training, this child could have been seriously injured or worse," Finch wrote in the commendation, awarding Barker the prestigious Life Saving Award for his heroic actions.

The Burnett County Sheriff's Office, alongside the community, celebrates Deputy Barker for his dedication and service during this tense and potentially tragic moment.
