Cusick, Damman Honored At AmVets Post 190 Christmas Party

SPOONER, WI — AmVets Post 190 celebrated its annual Christmas party last week at the ADRC building in Spooner, honoring two individuals for their significant contributions to the organization and the community.

George Cusick receives a handshake and plaque for being named this year’s "AmVet of the Year" from Post 190 Commander Jim Bishop. Bishop said that Cusick has been an active and important member of the Post especially for his role in setting up the ADRC building this year as the meeting place for the organization. He has also assisted veterans through out the county. The award was given at the Post's annual Christmas party held at the ADRC building in Spooner last week.

Larry Damman shows the plaque he received for being honored as this year’s AmVets Community Service person. AmVets Post Commander Jim Bishop presented the award to Damman for his sponsorship of the Shell Lake/Spooner High School Fishing Team in his role as the president of Friends Into Spooner Hatchery (FISH). Damman has been active in FISH since 2019 that provides fishing opportunities for youth and senior citizens. He is also a delegate to the Washburn County Conservation Congress. The award was given at the Post's annual Christmas party held at the ADRC building in Spooner last week. Damman, on behalf of FISH, was also presented with a check of $500 from the post to assist in the renovation of the historic Spooner Fish Hatchery building.

The awards highlight the individuals’ dedication to serving others and were presented in a festive gathering that underscored AmVets Post 190’s commitment to community and veteran support.
