Court Sentences Woman Charged In Polk Drug House Case

POLK COUNTY -- The Court has sentenced the first of two charged in a drug house bust made by law enforcement in Polk County in March 2020.

DrydenWire reported in April 2020, that two had been arrested and charged following the execution of a search warrant at a Polk County residence that led to the discovery of a drug house in March 2020.

While executing the search warrant, law enforcement found 85 grams of marijuana & a glass marijuana pipe inside of a tool bag in the living room. Investigators also found multiple items of packaging material such as baggies and a digital scale as well as multiple packages containing methamphetamine and marijuana located in different areas of the residence and the property; an active security system on the property; and over $2,000 cash.

Officers found Jaqualyne Bruns and Steven Bruns inside the residence. When Officers arrived on the scene, they found Steven attempting to flush items down the toilet. A baggie that was recovered contained a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. Jaqualyne and Steven were taken into custody. Steven initially managed to exit the squad car that he was placed in, and fled the scene, still wearing handcuffs. Steven was taken back into custody within a matter of hours.

Jaqualyne was charged with Class I Felony Possession of THC (2nd+ Offense), and Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia. At a recent hearing, the Court accepted a guilty plea from Jaqualyne on her charge of Class I Felony Possession of THC (2nd+ Offense). Her remaining charge was dismissed but read in.

The Court ordered a 2 year withheld sentence for Jaqualyne with 2 years of probation. If she does not comply with the terms of her probation she may be subject to 86 days of conditional jail time, according to online circuit court records. 

Steven Bruns


Steven was charged with Class H Felony Escape-Criminal Arrest, Class I Felony Maintain Drug Trafficking Place, Class I Felony Possess w/Intent-THC (<=200 grams), Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property.

Online circuit court records show that in June 2020 an additional case was filed against Steven charging him with Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine; Class H Felony Bail Jumping; and Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia.

Steven is scheduled to appear again in January 2021 on all his criminal charges.
