WASHBURN COUNTY -- The Washburn County Sheriff's Department has issued a notification regarding the relocation of convicted sex offender Michael M. Marry, 52, to 8725 North Lakeside in Trego, Wisconsin for the summer of 2024.
Marry, described as a 5'8" white male weighing 196 pounds with brown eyes and hair, has been identified by Department of Corrections professionals as potentially posing a risk of reoffending. A core team reviewing Special Sex Offender Bulletin Notifications made the decision to inform the Washburn County community about Marry's residence.
Marry's criminal history includes two convictions in Racine County:
- First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child (July 26, 1998)
- Sexually Violent Person Commitment (September 29, 1998)
As part of his obligations, Marry must register for life with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registration Program and is subject to lifetime GPS monitoring. However, he is not currently under supervision by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation/Parole.

The Sheriff's Department emphasized that this notification is intended to promote public safety through awareness rather than to instill fear. They noted that sex offenders have always resided in communities, but it wasn't until the passage of Act 440 in 1997 that law enforcement was permitted to share this information with the public.
