BARRON COUNTY (DrydenWire) - Two people have been convicted of theft in Barron County from an incident in September 2022 at Jacobson's Ace Hardware Store in the City of Rice Lake.
The Rice Lake Police Department’s investigation into the armed robbery in Rice Lake led to the subsequent identification of Jesus Miera II, age 42, as the suspect from the initial reported incident. Krista Buckwalter, age 48, also received criminal charges associated with the incident. Miera and Buckwalter were recently sentenced on their charges.
On September 23, 2022, Rice Lake Police Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery shortly after 7:00p, at the Jacobson's Ace Hardware Store in the City of Rice Lake.
According to the press release from the Rice Lake Police Department, a lone male entered the store and demanded money from the cashier. It was believed that the suspect had a firearm in his jacket because of the actions he made. The suspect fled the scene with a large sum of cash.
Rice Lake Police Department’s investigation subsequently identified the suspect as Jesus R Miera and was charged with Misdemeanor Theft - Movable Property, Party to a Crime; and Misdemeanor Resisting/Obstructing. A second person, Krista Buckwalter, 47, also received charges of Misdemeanor Theft - Movable Property, Party to a Crime; and Misdemeanor Resisting/Obstructing.
At a recent court hearing, both Miera and Buckwalter were sentenced on convictions for the Misdemeanor Theft. The remaining charges for each of them had been previously dismissed but read in.
The Hon. Judge James Babler ordered withheld sentences for each of them with 1 year of probation. They are ordered to pay $1,400 in restitution, jointly, with minimum monthly payments due. Buckwalter is also ordered to complete 80 hours of community service, according to online court records.
