Community Meeting Announced To Address Release Of Sex Offenders In Barron County

BARRON COUNTY, WI — The Barron County Sheriff's Office has scheduled a community informational meeting regarding the upcoming release of two Chapter 980 sex offenders into the local area. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the Auditorium at the Government Center, 335 E Monroe Ave, Barron.

The two individuals, Keith Heacox and Eric Fankhauser, are set to be released on December 19, 2024, and will reside at 1744 12 ¾ St, Barron. These individuals were previously committed under Chapter 980, Wisconsin’s Sexually Violent Person law, and their release includes strict supervision under the Wisconsin Department of Human Services (DHS) Supervised Release Program.

A DHS Supervised Release Program Liaison will attend the meeting to provide detailed information about the program, including the rules and monitoring procedures the offenders must follow. Representatives from the Wisconsin Division of Community Corrections will also be present to answer questions from the public.

In addition, the Sheriff's Office will address questions regarding a third individual, Joshua J. Johnson, who is scheduled for release on December 31, 2024. Johnson, who does not fall under Chapter 980, will be homeless upon release but will remain under GPS monitoring and other supervision conditions.
