BARRON COUNTY (DrydenWire) - An investigation into suspected sharing of child pornography online has led to a criminal conviction for Jarel Flory, age 35, of Chetek, WI. The Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) assisted the Barron County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
Criminal charges were filed against Jarel Flory, age 35, of Chetek, WI, following a law enforcement investigation into suspected online sharing of child pornography.
DrydenWire published a press release from the Barron County Sheriff’s Office on March 2, 2021, stating that the Barron County Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at 558 22 ½ Street, Chetek.
Flory was taken into custody during the search warrant.
The charges against Flory stemmed from an investigation, that spanned at least a month, into the sharing of explicit images of children over the internet.
The Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) assisted the Barron County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
Flory was charged with 11 counts of Class D Felony Possession of Child Pornography.
After numerous hearings, a jury trial was scheduled regarding the case in January 2024 but was moved to April 2024. However, Flory appeared in March 2024 for a plea hearing.
At that hearing in March, the Hon. Judge Bitney accepted Flory’s plea of Guilty to one charge of Class D Felony Possession of Child Pornography. The remaining charges were dismissed but read in.
Flory appeared most recently on May 30, 2024, for a sentencing hearing on his conviction.
Judge Bitney ordered Flory to serve a 9-year sentence with 4 years of initial incarceration followed by 5 years of extended supervision. Flory will be required to register as a sex offender for 15 years.
Conditions of supervision will require Flory to complete all evaluations, counseling, treatment, and follow-up recommended by his Probation Agent. He will be prohibited from accessing the internet without approval from his agent.
